Quantum chemical calculations

 

In addition to practical research, theoretical support is provided for the students' own practical work as well as within the framework of numerous collaborations at the Institute of Organic Chemistry, with other working groups at Clausthal University of Technology and for working groups at various other universities. In addition to a deeper understanding of organic chemical reactions and reaction mechanisms, the focus is on analytical questions (IR, Raman, 13C-NMR, UV, etc.), quantum chemical descriptors (NICS, NBO charges, Fukui indices, etc.) as well as interactions between functional groups and surfaces and polymer-physical simulations. Density functional theory is primarily used for this purpose. For this purpose, 6 nodes with 34 computing cores and Infiniband Interconnect are currently available on a small computing cluster.
