In our student laboratory at theInstitute of Organic Chemistryof theClausthal University of Technologywe offer interested school groups and their teachers the opportunity to get to know the experimental side of organic chemistry. This includes the possibility to examine the previously synthesized compounds spectroscopically (NMR, UV/Vis, IR) and spectrometrically (MS).
Of course, you will also have the opportunity to familiarize yourself with the current research areas of ourworking groupsresearch groups, attend lectures of the current semester, use our teaching equipment including the library and experience the flair of a small but fine university in the middle of theHarzin the middle of the Harz Mountains.
When compiling possible topics, we were guided on the one hand by the chemistry and biology curricula of schools in Lower Saxony. On the other hand, it is our aim to attract pupils to chemistry, to stimulate critical and scientific thinking, to present current and real-life topics in organic chemistry, to experimentally question what has been learned theoretically and to make chemistry fun.
We can create individual programs from these topics, which are to be regarded as initial suggestions. Groups can be supervised for just one morning or afternoon, all day or in the form of larger projects or workshops on a daily basis.
